History: After squaring off repeatedly against one another in the court rooms of Northern Virginia during the 1990's, Bill Stanley and Tim Bird decided that being on the same side of the courtroom would prove far more rewarding and successful. Thereafter, Tim joined in a firm with Bill and Bill's mother, Diane Stanley, a practicing real estate agent of 22 years and now a successful transaction attorney. In the spring of 2002, Bird and Stanley, LLC was born. Originally having offices in both Northern and southwest Virginia, the practice grew quickly. To better focus its resources to meet the needs of its clients, in 2004 the firm purchased the Holland-Duncan House (circa 1798) in the Westlake area of Smith Mountain Lake Virginia, a gorgeous well-preserved historical landmark that has become the firm's operations center. Naturally, both staff and attorneys decided to permanently relocate, and now make beautiful Southwest Virginia their home.

Since 2002, the partners of Bird & Stanley have also been the principals in Greater Woodlands Title Co., a Virginia corporation that provides title insurance utilized in real estate transactions
